Wonderful You and Me
When I read my book aloud to kids they let me know they “get it.” They nod, they smile, make hand signals, giggle and sometimes cry. Then they ask me to read some more!
You know what else? Whenever I read this book to myself the wounded kid inside ME feels better. Somehow my heavy vibes disappear and I feel lighter.
It’s like the sun comes out and life is good. Grownups who read my book have told me the same thing!
This book is not just for children but for all of us. By loving ourselves and shining our light, we’re up to something so wonderful that we may even change the world! Let’s rock!

Mission
Children have always made my heart sing. Their innocence, authenticity, and joy for life raise my vibes and bring out the child in me. I chomp at the bit to play like them and when I do, LIFE IS SOOOOO GOOD!
Now I’m on fire to inspire kids and the young at heart to love and believe in ourselves, no matter what bad happens to us or what bad we do, too. When we do, all bets are off and anything’s possible!
Instead of worrying and awful awfulizing, let’s play! Let’s love ourselves just the way we are and discover the love that’s here for us. Let’s forgive ourselves and each other when we mess up, let’s look for the best, and let’s do what we love. Let’s be up to something so wonderful that we may even change the world!
Vision
I gotta tell you, I’m stoked about living in a world where we love ourselves just the way we are, accept others just the way they are, and feel the joy that comes from being grateful for what we have and helping others. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
Here’s the thing… It’s not pie in the sky. It’s absolutely possible! We can be the ones who choose to let go of the old ways and beliefs that keep us small. We can share our shadow with the sunlight we carry within and grow our greatness. We can strive to keep the faith and train our eyes on the prize. Heaven on earth!
What do we have? Wondrous bodies, powerful minds, incredible hearts, and all kinds of talents and skills. We have imagination, determination, and power. We are worthy children of the universe blessed with everything our Creator has. The question is, what will we do with all we’ve been given?
Our hearts are key. There’s something special, unique, and wonderful planted in all our hearts just waiting to flourish. It’s like a secret sun. When we’re doing what we love, you can bet our hearts are jumping with joy. When we’re just going along for the sake of going along, there’s not much dancing going on.
As I grow older, I am coming face to face with the fact that I won’t be around forever. Time is short. Let me find the light, bask in it, and pass it on! Will you join me?
Words of Encouragement from Nana Nonie
When you slide on the ice, skate!
When struck by a storm, swirl!
When swamped by the waves, float!
When stuck in the mud, go slow.
When soaked by the rain, dance in the puddles.
When swept up by the wind, fly!

About Nonie Freeman
Nana Nonie is a chaplain, author, and grandmother who’s passionate about nurturing the potential of children and the power of the human spirit. “Great things happen when we love ourselves just the way we are and our spirits soar!”
When Nana Nonie was younger, she loved mothering but was amazed to experience even greater joy when her grandchildren were born. “Because of them, my heart overflowed and I fell in love with them AND the child within myself for the first time.”
Nonie’s first grandchild was born just as she began chaplaincy at the “young” age of 65. Her second arrived just before she was ordained at 67. “Being with my grands brings incredible love and laughter to my world and gives me a new zest for life!”
Nonie’s grands, Amelia and Gracie, inspired her to write a children’s book, “Do You Know How Wonderful You Are?”. As the book received high praise from kids and grown-ups alike, a fire grew inside Nonie that drives her to share her book and love of children with the world.
To Nana Nonie’s surprise, she is having all kinds of fun. “I have a blast reading to kids and telling stories filled with hope and heart. We sing songs that raise our vibes and help us dream good things. We laugh and cry together. What could be better than that?!”
Prior to ministry, book writing, and “grandmothering” Nonie enjoyed careers in education, counseling, social services and television. “At the time, I thought something was wrong with me because as soon as I’d master something, I was off pursuing other interests! Now that I’m a wise woman, I can see how everything I did was a stepping stone that led to who I am and what I do now. I love myself more than ever before and am excited to inspire others to feel the same about themselves!”
